This is very close to the theory of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and what the Philosopher Martin Buber defined as a type of existentialism (I – Thu relationship/dialectical philosophy).
Gestalt therapy has been influenced by similar phenomenological standpoints like this of Buber to prove that a healthy visual perception informs about the phenomenological reality.
