Irvin Yalom (1970) mentions in his book “The Theory
and Practice of Group Psychotherapy” that self-disclosure,
communication of thoughts, and sharing
deep feelings in the team are basics for the therapeutic
procedure in group therapy.
These modalities of expression assist the members in gaining a sense of acceptance and positive regard from the experienced therapist, along with the experience of a warm team relationship (the team is considered and symbolizes a
microcosm of the society).
Irvin Yalom and Julia Kristeva (1993) became famous for their work that joined the worlds of philosophy, novels, psychiatry, and psychotherapy, emphasizing on the amazing outcomes
and effective treatments that the existential approach in
personal and group therapy has offered.
